I received my formal training in art at Seneca College and have attended the Newmarket School of Fine art and continue to attend workshops and lectures to keep up to date on the art scene and to tackle new ideas. I have worked in most media including watercolour, acrylic and pen and ink but have settled on oils as the preferred medium.
I am retired from the Meteorological Service of Canada as a Meteorological Technician, where I traveled the country from coast to coast. This included extensive travel in the Canadian Arctic as a member of the Canadian Ice Patrol serving on Canadian Coat Guard Icebreakers and long range patrol fixed wing aircraft. I also worked as a weather observer and in air quality research. I was always drawing and painting along the way.
Landscape painting has been the focus of my work however I have done animal portraits and some still life. Most of the current work is from Southern Ontario where the fall colours in particular offer some beautiful scenes just a short drive away. Each piece is a new challenge and I try to incorporate new ideas in how to present the scene with the common theme of trying to catch a viewer’s interest and enjoyment. It gives me great pleasure to finish a painting and then share it with others.
I am a member of the Society of York Region Artists and have participated in a number of juried shows where I have won a few awards.
