I live in Bradford, Ontario with my husband and our little dog, Feebe. I paint with watercolours and acrylics and I enjoy painting with a limited palette. My subject matter is pretty eclectic. I also write, mostly poetry, and my perfect artist day is when one of my paintings inspires me to write a poem.
As an elementary school teacher, I brought art into my lessons at every possible opportunity. To prepare for my retirement, I took evening art courses at Barrie's Georgian College. Other learning followed: a week at North Bay's Canadore College, another at The Toronto School of Art, various workshops and this Summer, a ten week online painting course.
Past exhibits include BWG's Studio Art Tour / Passion Made Artisans exhibits, a juried show at Alliston's Gibson Centre, a York Writers event with my paintings & my poems, and my favourite, my 2014 solo 'Fairy Happenings' display at the BWG Public Library.
Painting regularly with others inspires me. In January, 2019, BWG's Leisure Centre provided us with a 'Creative Art Space' where we could paint. When Covid arrived, a handful of the regulars started painting together online, and, in good weather, we met six feet apart outdoors.
This past August, I was one of the eleven BWG Passion Made Artisans whose work was videoed in a spectacular outdoor setting and posted on YouTube and other social media.
My future painting aims are to create more painting and poetry combinations.
